Service planning

Music first

A disco booking should still be driven by the people in the room, not by a fixed list of “disco songs”. Send the age range, favourite eras, a few must-plays and any styles you do not want. That gives enough direction to build a coherent set without making the evening feel pre-programmed.

For mixed crowds, familiar music from several decades can be blended with current pop and dance, club classics and singalong tracks. The aim is to keep the room together rather than switching abruptly between unrelated blocks of music.

Event shape

Sound and lighting

The mobile disco setup can include professional speakers, DJ booth, party lighting and microphone where required. The exact equipment depends on the room, guest numbers and what the venue already provides.

Lighting should suit the size and atmosphere of the space. A compact room does not need the same amount of equipment as a large hall, and more lights are not automatically better if they make the room uncomfortable or clutter the dancefloor. If the venue already has useful lighting, that can be taken into account so the mobile setup complements the room instead of competing with it.

Event detail

Plan the flow

This part of the booking is where the event starts to feel specific rather than like a generic DJ package.

Share the start and finish time, supplier access and any planned speeches, cake moments or organised activities. That allows the music and setup to support the event instead of treating everything before the dancefloor as separate from the DJ booking.

If food is being served, the early part of the set can stay more relaxed. Once the organised moments are finished, the music can build into the main party and respond to requests where they fit the brief.

Sound and lighting

Match the system to the room instead of treating every disco as the same setup.

Requests

Use guest requests where they fit the organiser’s brief and the flow of the night.

Questions

Disco DJ FAQs

Straight answers to the practical questions that normally come up before the date is confirmed.

Is a disco DJ different from a mobile DJ?

Both services can use the same equipment. This page focuses on party music, requests and keeping the dancefloor moving; the Mobile DJ page explains sound, lighting and venue setup in more detail.

Can I choose the music?

Yes. Send must-plays, favourite eras, useful artists and anything to avoid.

Do you bring lighting?

Yes, where required. The lighting setup is matched to the room rather than using the same amount everywhere.

Can guests request songs?

Yes, where requests fit the organiser’s brief and the flow of the night.

Do you provide a microphone?

Yes, a microphone can be included for speeches or announcements.

What venue details matter?

Guest numbers, room size, access, parking, existing sound equipment and supplier setup times are all useful.

Check your date

Send the date, venue postcode, guest numbers and start and finish times to check availability. Include any important music, speeches, announcements or equipment details you already know so the booking can be assessed properly from the start.

You do not need every detail finalised before enquiring. The venue, date and core event plan are enough to establish availability, with the music and running order refined once the booking is moving forward.
